Giordano
Steve Giordano started flying in 1998 and never quite stopped accumulating airplanes, type ratings, and reasons to go somewhere remote. A Philadelphia native, he flew Dash-8s and Saab 340s for the regionals, C402s for Cape Air, and worked his way up to the left seat of the MD-80 and A320 as a Captain for Allegiant Air — a role he held from 2004 to 2014. He holds certificates as a CFII-MEI and has owned everything from an Aerostar to a Citation 550, and currently an IA-1124A Westwind II and a Cherokee 140.
Ferry flying found him in 2004 — or maybe he found it. Either way, it took. Today he has logged operations in over 100 countries, moving widebody jets to destinations most pilots never see in a career. He co-founded Nomadic Aviation Group in 2020 alongside Bob Allen, building on the foundation of predecessor companies Jet Test and Transport — which Steve co-founded with Bob — and Avia Crew Leasing, originally founded by Bob Allen, where Steve got his start as a contract pilot. Each iteration grew through personally investing in in-house dispatch, international infrastructure, and operational capability. Today Nomadic is among the largest and busiest ferry and flight test operators in the world.
Off the flight deck, Steve is the founder of Speedtape Films, the production company behind both Cockpit Casual and A Life Nomadic — a cinematic aviation series that has built one of the most visually distinctive audiences in the aviation space. His screen credits include Aviation Coordinator for Season 2, Episode 6 of HBO's The Rehearsal — an important role where, over the course of nearly two years, he helped make the critically acclaimed season finale possible. He also appeared as himself in TMZ Investigates: 9/11 — The Fifth Plane, working directly with Harvey Levin as an on-camera aviation consultant and subject matter expert — one of his several credited appearances as Self in documentary and investigative television.
He founded the Humanitarian Lift Project, providing aviation-backed hurricane relief. He is a music enthusiast who plays drums, guitar, piano, and composes with MIDI — some of the music you hear on Cockpit Casual is his. His father, Steve Giordano Sr., is a professional musician whose original jazz compositions also appear throughout the series. He is married to Avery Giordano, has four sons — two of whom are pilots and all of whom work in aviation — and is a committed Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.
